Environment-friendly Shipbuilding

The strategy of sustainable development guides all the environment protection in the process of building, service and other business. At the beginning of enterprise construction, the company implemented the environmental system in accordance with the national standard,“Three Simultaneity”. We advocate the concept of clean production, the application of clean energy use and pollution-free equipment. After its formal operation,the company conducts a control on all the potential pollution origins, from product design and material input, production procedure and pollution prevention/disposal, to the discharge of various pollutants. Especially we start at the origin, the company optimized the vessel type and developed the environment-friendly vessels; We also carry out the process optimization, craftsmanship improvement, energy-saving equipments and steel utilization promotion. At the same time, we treat the pollution at the terminal and guarantee the standardized discharge of polluted water and gas as well as dust and noise.

Safety First

Social Donation

Both Shanghai Waigaoqiao Shipbuilding Co., Ltd. and Shanghai Changxin Shipbuilding Co., Ltd. bid for “Shanghai Model Unit”, and both of them make the annual donation plan. In recent years, the two companies take part in the social aid and welfare services actively.

In the November of 2007, SWS launched a donation activity in cash and supplies for the rebuilding of disaster-hit areas in Yunnan and Sichuan Provinces. The donation reached 7,378 person-time, and the amount reached 156, 917.4 yuan in cash and 754 garments or quilts in kind. On May 12, 2008, a devastating earthquake measured 8 on Richter Scale hit Wenchuan, Sichuan Province, causing serious destruction and severe casualties. The employees and party members offer their helps, in terms of aid, party membership dues and winter relieves. The donation reached almost 20,000 person-time and 894, 197.1 yuan in total. Even the names of owner supervisors and class surveyors appeared in the list of donators. Among them, the owners from Singapore donated 300, 000 USD in all.

The divisions and individuals also play a positive role in social donation and poverty aid. The After-sale Service Division of Quality Control Dept., with awards of “Model Division of SWS” (in 2004, 2005 and 2006), “Women Pioneer Team of SWS” (in 2003~2004), “Women Pioneers of Shanghai Municipality” and “Shanghai Medal for Female Workers” (in 2005). At the end of 2006, they helped a primary school student named Zhang Meng with her resumption in study. This matter is under the project of “Spring Bud Girls” organized by the women’s union of Ruichang, Jiangxi Province. After the Wenchuan earthquake, the Hull Outfitting Division of Design Dept. set up the “Hull Outfitting Charity Fund”, and with the introduction by Shanghai Charity Foundation, the division became a participant in “Shanghai-Sichuan Charity Ties”. The fund has succeeded in offering two young children in Dujiangyan the school expenses.

In the practice of “Welcoming Both Olympics and World Expo”, SWS has made full use of society resources, participated in the sports games of “My Olympics” held by Waigaoqiao Function Area and won the prizes. Moreover, SWS supported the urban orders maintenance, the company’s volunteers conduct the traffic duty at the crossing of Laiyang Rd. and Wulian Rd. on fixed dates. The company has also received the guests from the sightseeing of “Pudong in Citizen’s Eyes” and won the honor of “Model Unit”.

On May 12, 2008, a devastating earthquake measured 8 on Richter Scale hit Wenchuan, Sichuan Province. Being faced with the catastrophe, all the people united and relieve the survivors of the disaster. The administrative team of SCS made a decision, donating 500, 000 yuan in the name of the company. In order to help the quake-hit area people pass through the hardships, the party commission of SCS held an emergent meeting for making donation plan and publicizing notice. Under the leadership of the company’s party commission, the staff donated money enthusiastically, and formed a rush for donation. Even subcontracted workers and supervisors from owners contributed their shares, and the donation reached the amount of 204, 936 yuan. Meanwhile, the party commission actively responded to the call of CPC Organization Dept., and carried the collection of “special party membership dues” among party members. In the process of collection, all the party members have played a pioneering role and contributed their donation once more. The total sum reached 150, 020 yuan.
